June 6, 1927 - February 10, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Alvin Dean Chappell passed from this life surrounded by his loving wife, Charlotte and their children. His life was filled with hard work, community service and love for family, friends and church. A Veteran of WWII he served the Fifth Air Force in Occupied Japan as crew chief instructor on the P-51 Mustang. He began a 30 year career with Page Industries/ Aircraft Engine Service by sweeping floors, and retired as its Chief Executive Officer. An additional 35 "retirement" years were spent employed by Cimarron National Golf Course in Guthrie. Until recently, Al and Charlotte lived in Crescent, Oklahoma where they formed cherished friendships and served their community through their church, the American Legion, Frontier Country Historic Museum and the Lions Club, where Al received the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. His family thanks the staff and doctors of Integris Medical Center, Cancer Center and Hospice House for their skilled and loving care. A memorial service will be held at Mayfair United Church in Oklahoma City on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 1 PM. Instead of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Alvin Chappells's name be made to Mayfair Heights United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City or to the Lions Club.
