Nov. 14, 1929 - Nov. 5, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Arlene Lois Schlaepfer, 82, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2012. Arlene was born on November 14, 1929 in Mallard, Iowa to Ray and Irma Hartsock. She attended Cummins Township #1, a one-room school from the first to the eighth grade. Arlene graduated from Mallard High School, where she played girls basketball, and active in the music department, including Glee Club, Girls' Sextet, Mixed Chorus, and competed in several music contests as a mezzo soprano. Arlene attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, IA. Following graduation, she started a business career in Laurens, IA. She moved to Oklahoma City in 1949 and continued her business career until 1960, at which time she was a Secretary to Vice President, James B. Cockrell at the First National Bank & Trust Company. She became a charter member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in 1961 and was active in the choir, various committees, and the United Methodist Women. She was also active in PTA and she was the assistant Campfire Girl Leader. Arlene returned to her business career for Manpower Temporary Services and was named Manpower Secretary of the Year in 1983. She became a legal secretary in 1989 which she continued until she retired in 1999. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, David Hartsock and his wife Karlene; husband Louis W. Schlaepfer; and her special friend, Richard "Dick" Stahl. She is survived by her son Chris Schlaepfer; grandson, Andrew Schlaepfer; daughter, Karen Schlaepfer Ewart and her husband Duncan; granddaughters Danielle and Christina Ewart; brothers Kenneth and Lowell Hartsock, and twins Willard and Willis Fain. A Memorial Service will be held for Arlene at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Arlene's name to the
