April 13, 1929 - July 27, 2013 MIDWEST CITY C. James "Jim" Heath was born April 13, 1929 to the late Herman Haskell and Bonnie Ruth Heath in Econtuchka, Seminole County, OK. Jim passed away on July 27, 2013. He was raised in Earlsboro Oklahama, graduating from Prairie View High School in 1947. Jim attended and graduated from Seminole Junior College and attended East Central University in Ada, OK before he married Jocile Heister on February 4, 1951. They moved to Bedford, TX where Jim was employed at the original Boys Ranch. Five years later the family moved to Midwest City, OK where he resided for 57 years. During that time, Jim worked for Sperry-Sun for 2 years and retired from General Tool & Supply Company after 28 years. His family attends St. Matthew UMC, where Jim sang in the choir for 57 years and taught Sunday School many years. His love of music started early, taking piano lessons at age 8 and eventually he studied under Dean Berg. He enjoyed playing ragtime music and attended many festivals in other states, occasionally playing in open sessions. He also played banjo and was a member of the Okie Dokie Banjo Band since 1986. As a talented athlete, Jim was captain of his high school basketball team and was recruited to try out to play baseball in minor leagues.He was preceded in death by his wife Jocile and is survived by sons, David Heath (Dayna), Jim Heath (Diana), Mark Heath (Kim); daughter, Bonnie Schriewer (Eddie); grandchildren, Jennifer Gregory (Matt), Valerie Price (Cody), April Slavens (Albert), Kayla Allen (Trent), Darren Heath and Vanessa Heath; great granchildren, Grace and Jonas Gregory and Cody Price. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Freda Heister and Katherine Heister. Services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, August 2, at St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Midwest City under the direction of Ford Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Matthew Memorial Fund.
