1935 - 2012 HARRAH Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, friend, Dollard began his earthly journey in Waterbury, CT in 1935. The final chapter in his life on earth ended on July 17, 2012, in Harrah, OK. He is now in the loving arms of Jesus for eternity. (Galations 2:20, Philippians 1:21).Dollard joined the US Army in 1954 and after his service to his country, he moved to Southern California, where he met his future wife and best friend, Helene. They were married in Los Angeles in 1959. California was home to them for many years. Dollard was a bus operator for Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority and a member of UTU for 34 years until his retirement. After retirement, Dollard and Helene moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ, and then to Oklahoma in 2010. He was a wonderful father and was very giving but firm in the rearing of his two children, Michael and Michele. He wanted the best for his family and was very proud of their accomplishments. He was very hard-working and no job was too big or too hard for him if he set his mind to it. He was always willing to assist a friend or neighbor in need of help, and he was always ready to play chess, 500-rummy, or pool with anyone who was willing. His happiest times were when family or friends would visit. Dollard will be dearly and deeply missed by us all, including his three canine friends, Cody, Quigli, and Maverick, who brought much joy into his last years. He looked forward to his daily walk in the park and feeding "healthy" bread to the family of four geese that he "adopted" this spring when the baby geese were small. As the babies grew and blended in with the rest, Dollard wondered how he would find them. But, his special geese found him. They would break away from the flock, and would walk, swim, or fly to reach him first. Dollard authored a book, "The Reverse of the Fall", published in 2005 by Creation House. Writing this book was quite an undertaking, since Dollard had never written any books and did not have the credentials or knowledge of how to go about it. He just felt it was something that he was being led to do and, with encouragement from family and friends, he hand-wrote the entire manuscript over a period of several years, prayerfully researching every detail. Dollard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helene; son, Michael and wife, Constantina, of San Diego, CA; daughter, Michele of Harrah, OK; two grandchildren, Ulysses and Alexandra; sister, Blanche; sister, Georgette and husband Edward; brother, George and wife Dorothy; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Dollard was preceded in death by his mother and father and three brothers, Jean Paul, Maurice, and Louis Dorais. Private memorial services were held by the family.
