Westphal Oct 13, 1925 - Oct 6, 2012 YUKON Edward Byron Westphal was born October 13, 1925, to Edward and Eunice Meyer Westphal in Wabeno, WI and died, Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the age of 86. Mr. Westphal married Janice L. Weigel August 4, 1956, in Platteville, WI. He graduated from high school in Wabeno, WI, and in 1944, he joined the U.S. Navy as a signalman in the European, Asiatic, China, Burma, and India Theatres during WWII. Edward attended Wisconsin Institute of Techonology in Platteville earning a B.S degree in Mining Engineering in 1953. He worked in Colombia, SA for South American Gold and Platinum, in Nevada for the Wah Chang Mining Company, and 29 years for the US Gypsum Company. In 1987, Edward retired from US Gypsum. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of OKC. During his lifetime, Edward participated in many organizations, such as Cub Scouts, Kiwanis, Lions Club, the Watonga School Board, Bethlehem Bazaar and XYZ. He loved to hunt, fish, travel, and read. Edward is survived by his wife, Janice Westphal, of the home in Yukon; two sons: John Westphal & wife Debra, of Loyal, Oklahoma; and Mark Westphal & the late Diana Westphal, of Watonga, OK; four sisters, six grandchildren and three great-grandsons. Funeral services for Edward will be held Saturday, October 13, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Watonga. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Watonga, with Wilkinson Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
