March 24, 1918 - Feb 21, 2013 CHOCTAW Ethel Burnett, born March 24, 1918, died February 21, 2013, just short of her 95th birthday. She was the sixth child born to James and Etta Adair in a family of ten children. Originally from Arkansas, the family moved to Oklahoma in the fall of 1918. Preceding Ethel in death were her parents, James and Etta; husbands, Ernest Stieber, Joseph Fuzzell, and Bill Burnett; four brothers, Henry, Loren, Woodrow, and Charles; three sisters, Ila Moorhead, Eunice Emmons, and Ruth Winkler; and two grandchildren, Rhonda Long and Monte Mitchell. She is survived by two sisters, Gladys Stieber and her husband Otto Stieber, and Doris Ervin; three daughters and their husbands, Ann Votaw (Bill), Janet Price (Leo), and Marla Hill (Ray); three grandchildren, Vonda Best (Tim), Lynna Crabb (Larry), and Dan Mitchell (Brenda); ten great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was known to her great- and great-great-grandchildren as "Grandma Great." She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. During WWII, Ethel worked as one of the original "Rosie the Riveters" at the Douglas Plant (later Tinker Air Force Base). She later worked in her brother Loren's upholstery business for several years. She acquired several rental properties, which she managed successfully for many years. Ethel enjoyed writing poetry and took several classes at Rose State College. She loved to crochet and wrapped her family in her lovely afghans, which they cherish. Ethel enjoyed her church family at Choctaw Road Baptist Church, where she had taught the Senior Women's Sunday School Class until her health failed. The family would like to thank Hospice Quality Care in Del City for their compassionate care of her and her family. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Choctaw Road Baptist Church, with burial at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
