FLOYD DEATON Obituary
March 11, 1925 - January 9, 2013 DEL CITY Floyd Madison Deaton was born to James William and Minnie Ann (DeBoard) Deaton on March 11, 1925. He had five siblings, Estle, LeRoy, Ola Fay, Carrie Dean, and Walter. Floyd graduated from Norman High School in 1943 where he lettered in baseball for four years. In 1948 joined the Army where he played baseball as a catcher. After high school Floyd worked on his father's truck farm until joining the work force in 1946 at Magnolia Oil, which later became Mobil Oil. He retired from Mobil after thirty-six and half years. On February 11, 1950 he married Betty Jean Self in Cleveland County. They were married for sixty-two years. After retirement he enjoyed gardening, yard work and picking up pecans. Floyd also spent 8 years working with his sons as a contracting company KFC Deaton Builders Inc. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Estle and LeRoy, sister, Ola Fay. He is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Kenneth and wife, Kelly of Valdez, Alaska; son, Charles and wife, Annette of Del City. He has five grandchildren, Jesse and Isaac of Valdez, Alaska, Karen, William and Autumn of Del City; sister, Carrie Schwartz of Lindsay; and brother, Walter of Bethel Acres. Services will be held at Sooner Baptist Church, 10am Saturday with internment at Arlington Memory Gardens.
