November 12, 1926 - November 2, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Harold B. Sinclair passed away Friday, November 2, 2012, in Oklahoma City. Harold was born November 12, 1926, in a farmhouse in east Grady County, Oklahoma, to N.E. and Lelia Morine Burkes Sinclair. He grew up on the family farm, attended primary school at See Chapel and most of high school at Bradley. Harold and his mother moved to Oklahoma City in 1943, where he graduated high school at Capitol Hill. He attended the University of Oklahoma and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Geology. While attending OU, he met Mary Jane Mounger, and they were married in 1951 in Purcell, Oklahoma. He was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio Texas, where they lived for several years. He earned the rank of staff sergeant and was honorably discharged. He had two children, Janet Maureen and Brent. He was an active member of Knob Hill Baptist Church in South Oklahoma City. He and his wife, Mary, were founding and charter members of the church. He served as deacon, chairman of the finance committee and performed many other acts of service. Harold and Mary Jane enjoyed 36 years of marriage together until her passing in 1987. In 1989, he met and married Ann McNeill Shields. Harold and Ann were faithful members of St. James Episcopal Church. Harold served as a lector there for many years. Many people will remember Harold's Derby Day festivities. Harold and Ann enjoyed traveling and saw many great sights in North America. Harold was an avid Sooner Football fan, a season ticket holder for "53" years, a member of the OU President's Associate's Club, Touchdown Club and Quarter Century Club. He was a 32nd degree Mason and recently received his 50-year pin. Harold was also a Shriner and a member of the Masonic Myrtle Lodge of Oklahoma City. He was a member of the "Greeter Unit" and participated in many parades in Oklahoma. Harold really enjoyed going to the family farm, visiting with his Bradley and Lindsay friends and solving the world's problems. Harold worked for the Oklahoma Public Employees Retirement System in Oklahoma City for 29 years. He retired in 1993 as Deputy Director. Harold is survived by his wife of 23 years, Ann; son, Brent and Serena Sinclair, of Modesto, California; daughter, Janet Maureen Cottrell, of Oklahoma; three grandchildren: Corie and Jesse Lenzi, of Rancho Cordova, California; Jayne Summer and Skyler Thomas, of Edmond, Oklahoma; and Kara Shay Sinclair, of Modesto, California; four great-grandchildren; and many cousins: Richard and Katherine Burkes, of Yukon, Oklahoma; Marshall and Audrey Burkes, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Laveta Lutomski, of Lindsay, Oklahoma; Lorreta and Jerry Olson, of Moore, Oklahoma; and Ann's extended family, including stepson, Michael Shields, of Edmond, Oklahoma; and granddaughters, Amy and James Landrum, of Austin, Texas, and their two daughters; and Robyn and Nick Hays and their two sons, of Edmond, Oklahoma.Memorial gifts may be made in honor of Harold to the St. James Episcopal Church Food Pantry, 8400 S Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73159.Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.
