March 7, 1930 - July 4, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Helen Louise Brawdy, 83, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2013. Born March 7, 1930, in Banner, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Fred and Osie Bales Spitler. Helen was a homemaker and wife of 59 years to the late Paul Brawdy and the beloved matriarch of her family. Helen enjoyed Sunday morning breakfasts with her family, gardening and being outdoors, and visiting with friends. Known to many as "Mama Helen," she devoted her life to helping others and making her home warm and welcoming and always filled with food and laughter. Helen is survived by her three children, Paula Lucas and her husband Donnie, Fred Brawdy and his wife Sandy, and Donna Owens and her husband Richard, all of Midwest City; 10 grandchildren, Ray, Julie, Jason, Jennifer, April, Amy, Angie, Amber, Paul and Alice; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Floyd and Charles Spitler; and many other family and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Etta Mae Claborn; Nelson, Orville, and Cleatis Spitler; and Susie Kennedy. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Sunny Lane Funeral Home at 4000 S.E. 29th Street in Del City. Interment will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
