Nov 3, 1924 - Jan 18, 2013 NEWCASTLE James Cruz Melton passed away January 18, 2013, at the age of 88. He was born November 3, 1924, in Fort Cobb, OK to Walter V. and Elva Mae Matlock Melton. Cruz was an Air Force Veteran of WWII. Cruz met Lorene Marshall in December of 1949, and they married on August 5, 1950. He worked at Tinker AFB for 33 years and retired in 1980. He lived in OKC since 1951 and moved to Newcastle in 1996. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved to tinker and fix anything that needed fixing. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter, Jr.; and sister, Norma Rose Buchanan. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lorene; son, Joel Melton and wife Camille, of Newcastle; daughter, Beth Graham and husband Ron, of OKC; two brothers: Rudy Melton, of Jay; and Arnold Melton and wife Maxine, of Wewoka; and three grandchildren, Jacob, Benjamin, and Hannah. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at the Advantage South Chapel, with burial following at the German Cemetery on the Tinker AFB.
