I remember as a kid I thought trains were really neat, then I met Jim Murray and found out how much more there was than I had ever imagined. Jim was a walking encyclopedia of trains and thrilled to share that information with you along with his genuine love and friendship. He was a visionary who made his visions become a reality.
He will be missed by many, but will most certainly also be fondly remembered by all who knew him. My heart goes out to his family and friends during their time of loss.

The world will so miss Jim as a awesome train engineer and awesome technology engineer. His skills and passion touched so many by enabling their own passions to fulfill. Loved by many, respected by all he knew, I am so sorry for this loss. Betting there is railroad in Heaven, if not, Jim will build it!

My kids called Jim 'grandpa'. He will be sorely missed. I'm sad that I didn't get to say goodbye.
