Frederickson April 25, 1918 - May 4, 2012 NAPOLEONVILLE, LA Our dear mother made her 94th birthday, then chose to pass on to be with her Lord and her husband, Jack, on Friday night, May 4. She passed on in her sleep, lying just a few hundred yards from the house where she was born, in the fields where she played and rode her horse, on her family's plantation, Glenwood of Napoleonville, LA. Joan always pronounced her name as her parents had, in two syllables, "Jo-wen," and she was the sister of the other three children of Edward P and Gertrude Munson of Napoleonville: Edward, Trudy and Amelia, all of whom predeceased her. Joan and her husband, the late John Henry Frederickson, Jr., had three children, Myra (1940), Marguerite (1943) and Christopher (1945), each of whom has one daughter, Sarah, Elizabeth and Isabel, respectively. Besides being a devoted and caring wife and mother, Joan was active in the Episcopal Church (St. Paul's, Oklahoma City) and the Junior League. She also started a preschool/grade school, which later was taken over by the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma. In her 70s, Joan returned to the writing of novels in which she had indulged as a girl, publishing her first book, "Down in Cajun Country," at age 77 in 1995. The funeral service will be held at Christ Church, Napoleonville, on the 15th of May at 3 p.m., with her nephew, the Reverend John Munson officiating. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
