Nov 23, 1941 - Aug 3, 2012 NORMAN Joed Cleve Savage, born in Oklahoma City November 23, 1941, passed away in Norman, OK August 3, 2012. He was blessed with an abundance of life experiences in between. In June of 1973, Joed met Linda on a blind date, and they were married on August 18. Joed and Linda formed a family with her son, Mike Dandridge. Their son, Marcus, followed the next year, with their daughter, Manda, completing the household. Living on an acreage east of Norman, every day seemed like an adventure. Always a child at heart and forever the handyman, Joed made sure his property had everything to delight his children: a swimming pool, tree houses, a zip line, a trampoline, and a go-kart track. It was the site of many gatherings through the years, especially Halloween and the 4th of July. After graduating from Northeast High School, he attended O.S.U., Central State College and O.U., majoring in Art and Education. Joed began his career teaching at Webster Junior High in Oklahoma City. He later became a counselor at Rogers Junior High. From there, he went to Moore Public Schools as an administrator, serving at Moore High School, Highland East, Brink and West Junior Highs. Upon retirement, he moved to Texas, where he served as a counselor at Allen High School. Education was his passion, and he never saw a challenge he did not feel he could overcome. Everyone fortunate enough to work with Joed respected him for his integrity and kindness. Because of his love for education and his compassion for others, Joed positively touched and influenced the lives of countless people during his thirty-eight years of public education.Joed's loyalty, generous spirit, and sense of humor endeared him to his family and lifelong friends. There is no way to express the love he had for his family. His parents, Ed and Catherine Savage; brother, Jim Savage; and Jim's wife, Jan; preceded him in death. Joed is survived by his wife, Linda; their children: Mike and his wife Sally of Henderson, NV; Marcus and his wife Brayden of Norman; and Manda and her husband Michael of Henderson, NV; his grandchildren: Tarryn and Kale Kahre; Hailie and Logan Savage; Gabe Kristof; Connor, Ainsley, and Rowan Dandridge; Harper Kristof; and Nora Savage; his sisters, Carol Payton of Oklahoma City, and Sharon Petty of Guymon; his brother, John Savage of Granbury, TX; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Joed was an honorable and proud son, husband, father, uncle, and Papaw. The family asks that you consider contributions in Joed's name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Central Oklahoma at 2212 NW 50th St, Ste 158C, Oklahoma City, OK 73112. A Celebration of Life will be held for Joed at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7 at Goodrich Methodist Church, 200 W. Hayes in Norman.
