Oct 18, 1945 - Dec 23, 2012 CHOCTAW Johnny Luke Hewett, 67, of Choctaw, OK, passed away on December 23, 2012, surrounded by family. He was born on October 18, 1945, to Evelyn and Luther Hewett in Long Beach, CA. After graduating from Elmore City High School in 1963, he joined the Oklahoma National Guard in Konawa, OK. He graduated from East Central University with a BS degree in chemistry. Upon graduation from college in 1967, he was employed as a chemist at Tinker Air Force Base and worked for 37 years. He was a member of the Oklahoma Classic Chevy Club and loved showing off his 55 Chevys. He married Linda on May 29, 1971, in Pauls Valley, OK; together, they raised their children, Heath and Adam, in Choctaw, OK. He was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed his life, with many family celebrations and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Luther Hewett; and brother, Walter Hewett. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Heath Hewett, and Adam and Heather Hewett; three grandchildren, Ryan, Claire and Olivia; one brother, Tommy Hewett and wife Cheryl; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Carolyn Tennison, and Mike and LaVerne Criss; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012, at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Family would like to extend a special thank-you to Integris Cancer Institute, Dr. Johnny McMinn and the staff of the Integris Hospice House for their loving care and kindness.
