Dec 5, 1923 - Jan 20, 2013 NICOMA PARK Dr. Leahn Westfall went to be with the Lord on Jan. 20, 1923. Dr. Westfall was born on Dec. 5, 1923, the eldest of five children born to Ivy and Stella Westfall, of Carney. Graduating from Carney High School at age 16, he began college in Stillwater. After a brief stint in the Navy due to WWII, he worked at various jobs until he finished college and accepted his first job in education at Carney High School in 1944. He married Eloise Hart in 1946 and began a life together that would take them to nine different towns every handful of years as he advanced his career in education. Dr. Westfall earned his doctorate in education from Oklahoma State University in 1959. In a career that spanned 40 years, Dr. Westfall touched many lives and had numerous accomplishments in the communities of Carney; Cheyenne Valley; Greenfield; Canton; Weatherford; Artesia, New Mexico; Shawnee and Hominy, Oklahoma. In 1984, Dr. Westfall made Nicoma Park his home until his death. Dr. Westfall lived a life full of accomplishments, leadership, service, optimism and faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise; daughter, Karen; fraternal twin, Dr. Lavern Westfall; younger brother, Doyle; brother-in-law, Chuck Alexander; and parents, Stella and Ivy. He is survived by a sister, Neva Alexander; sons, Darrell and Brad, and their spouses, Iris and Ronda; and son-in-law, Bud Mullen. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Betty and Heraldean; along with seven grandkids and nine great-grandkids. Service at First Baptist Church of Choctaw, 2700 North Main, Choctaw, at 2 p.m. Thursday.
