June 17, 1908 - January 26, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Mary Martini Cirksena passed peacefully from this life on January 26, 2013. Born June 17, 1908 in Edgerton, MO, she was the sixth of nine children of Max Frederick and Ada von Bothimer Martini. The family moved to Sioux Falls, SD where Mary graduated from Sioux Falls College. In 1930 Mary married Frank H. Cirksena and they moved to Hastings, NE where they lived 28 years, and then to Lincoln, NE where they lived 17 years. Mary taught Latin and English fulltime in Pierre, SD for one year, and for many more years was called frequently as a substitute teacher in Hastings and Lincoln. In retirement, Mary and Frank moved to Annapolis, MD and then to Sarasota, FL where they enjoyed many more years together until Frank passed away in 1993. In 2001, Mary moved to Oklahoma City, OK to reside near family. Mary and Frank's three children are: Dr. William J. Cirksena (wife Molly) of Annapolis, MD, Mary Jane Holmes (husband Quentin) of Eugene, OR, and Kay Floyd (husband Richard) of Oklahoma City. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and all eight siblings. Mary has 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren in Nebraska, Illinois, Maryland, Hawaii, Oregon, Texas, Tennessee, and Massachusetts. The family extends our gratitude to all the staff at Quail Ridge Senior Living Center for their extraordinary love and care extended to our beloved "Grandma Mary." A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Mary Cirksena will be held at St. Stephen's Presbyterian Church, 2424 NW 50th Street in Oklahoma City, OK at 2:00 p.m. on March 16, 2013.
