Nov 13, 1916 - Nov 27, 2013 MIDWEST CITY Nelson W. "Jack" Hall, 97, formerly of Midwest City, went home to be with the Lord Nov. 27, 2013. He was born in Tupelo, MS to Thomas H. and Money Burkett Hall, the youngest of 11 children. Jack married C. Alice Palmer in 1936 — a union that lasted for 69 years until her death in 2005. He was a member of The Greatest Generation and served by maintaining and repairing military aircraft. For three months in 1954, Jack supervised a team in French Morocco to repair a crashed B-47. He improvised facilities and directed the manufacture of unobtainable parts to accomplish the mission. Jack retired in 1973 as supervisor of the A-7D Fighter Control Unit of Scheduling and Inventory Control Section at Tinker AFB. His recommendations and inventions saved the Air Force more than $400,000. For more than 60 years, Jack was a beloved member of First Baptist Church, Midwest City. He served there as a deacon and chairman of property and space as well as a longtime Sunday School teacher. He also worked with senior adults for 20 years, often helping to repair their homes. Always ready with a quip and a gentle tease, Jack will long be remembered for his gentle spirit and the strength of his Christian faith. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sons, seven brothers and three sisters. Surviving him are his daughter, Betty Wilcoxson, of Coplay, PA; daughter-in-law, Nancy Hall, of Midwest City; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4 at the First Baptist Church of Midwest City. A viewing will be held from Noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday in the church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
