April 5, 1925 - May 11, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Paul Dominic Romano, 88, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013, at his home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Paul was born April 5, 1925, to Gabriel and Carmella (Yacavelli) Romano in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended All Saints Grammar School and graduated from University High School in 1942. He graduated with a degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas in Austin. Paul served in the Navy in WWII on an ammunition supply ship. He met his beautiful bride, Helen Barbara Skaggs, after his service in the Navy, and they married in 1948 in Austin, Texas. After graduating college, Paul began a long career in the oil and gas industry in 1949. He started as a roughneck in the oil fields with Delta Drilling in Houston, Texas. He was hired by Kerr-McGee and moved to Oklahoma City and frequently relocated to many cities throughout his career. He was promoted to Assistant for Drilling Operations and was subsequently promoted to Vice President for two Kerr-McGee subsidiaries, Trans-World and Trans-Ocean. He was promoted to President of Trans-World and Trans-Ocean in December of 1973 and retired in 1990. Paul enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, reading, and golf. His greatest love was his family and spending time with his many grandchildren. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Helen; along with six children, Linda Ryter, of Edmond, OK; Nancy Willard, of Yukon, OK; Janet Galloway, of Oklahoma City, OK; Paul Romano, of Edmond, OK; Mark Romano, of Moore, OK; and John Romano, of Edmond, OK; 14 grandchildren, Timothy, Joanna, Nicholas, Adam, Lauren, Tony, Dominic, Vincent, Loni, Katie, Claire, Gracie, Joseph and Sophia; and four great-grandchildren, Erika, Lia, Carter, and Parker. Wake services for Paul will be held the evening of May 14, 7 to 9 p.m. at Mercer-Adams at 3925 North Asbury Avenue, Bethany, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
