For Tim...
Sundays will never be the
same without you.
WEEP NOT FOR ME
Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.
Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.
I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.
Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.
Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.
Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

The last conversation I had with my brother Marvin was on June 15, 2008. We talked about Tim and how great it was that he went to college in Cleveland. We talked about the grief his family must have felt to get that phone call. We got that phone call at 8am the next morning. My brother had died of a heart attack in the same way Tim died. I know they are both safely home in Heaven and that one day I will see my brother again and I will be honored to meet your Tim. May God continue to give you comfort and peace.

One year ago today, we brought a new puppy home. Much to our shock and sadness, we heard of Tim Russert's death as we were thinking of names for our new family member. We named our four-legged buddy in honor of a trusted wonderful voice that we always looked forward to hearing. Many have told us that Russert is the perfect name - and we hope the family is not upset at this name - it helps us (and others!) remember a most remarkable person.

Thanks again for such an exemplary life...a model for all of us, but especially our youth. God bless your dear wife and son and all your loved ones. I'll see you again 1 day when I get to heaven!

Tim's excitement for live and love of family is an inspiration to me. I was crushed to hear of his passing and pray for his family as they go forward in life. Losing a loved one is something that at times we all struggle to understand, but learned to accept it. I missed Tim dearly. He was a man of integrity and enjoyed life very much. Even thought, I have ever met him in person, I enjoyed so much his wisdom and candid personality. I look forward when the words of John 5:28, 29, which reads, “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out” becomes a reality just like Jesus, beloved friend, Lazarus, did. Jehovah God assures us that soon he will wipe out every tear from our eyes and death itself will be no more, all our pain will be gone forever. Rev 21:3-4. I look forward seen my beloved grandmother, friends, and finally meeting Tim as well. May you and your family find the same comfort I found in Our Heavenly Father, Jehovah’s promises.

Here we are only days from an inauguration that makes me hungry for Tim to be a part of. Although we were only some of his "viewing" family, we have been touched by his intelligence, sensitivity and wit.
We want you to know that we continue to keep you and Luke and the rest of the Russert family in our hearts and prayers. We didn't write sooner because everyone writes and does things in the beginning. It's when the dust settles and most people return to their "norms" that you still feel hurt and alone. We share your loss and hope that as time goes by, you will continue to heal with the great memories of a great man.
We still smile when we think of how much more fun election night would have been if Tim were there with his white boards!!

Tim and Family, Still thinking of you, the jingle of "Meet the Press" always reminds me of Tim. Seeing Tim on Meet the Press was my Sunday morning church hour. To the Russert Family - My thoughts have been with you over these past weeks - the holidays! I lost my Jim in 1996 in very much the same way you did Tim. They would have even been both the same age today. They were both very very fine men and Maureen, you and I are lucky enough to still have a part of them both.....our children. And they will carry on their Dad's legacies. You have Luke and I have Eric and Hillary. Unfortunately, my Jennifer age 29 is with her Dad since 2002 and watching over us all now too. God Bless and may 2009 be a healing year for you both.

I've been in their shoes and lost my dear mate too...way too young also. Please, Tim, do whatever you can from where you are to help our dear country pick the right leader. You should be able to influence the outcome of this election better than you could have from this side...instead of partnering up with Tom Brokaw, you and Our Dear Lord can set us on the right course...please ask God to guide and protect us all thru this election! Dear Russert family,
I have been aware of deepening my grief in knowing that our country has lost your wonderful husband and father. The commentary on MSNBC has lost its professionalism, courage and honesty. How I am aware so of the hard work and diligent presence Tim brought to this country. And how I feel his presence is still being felt, even though NO ONE has come close to his sense of compassion, truth and prophetic voice for fiar play. I continue to pray that God brings you peace, joy and such gratitude in knowing that people who never met him, even like this hospital chaplain, knew that for the brief time while his candle burned brightly here, a sense of fair play and excellence in journalistic skills was raised to its highest standard. God bless you all.
