Oct 18, 1918 - Oct 25, 2013 MIDWEST CITY Viola "Smitty" McClellan, of Midwest City, passed away October 25, 2013. She was born in Grant, Florida, on October 18, 1918. She was a proud and dedicated wife of 52 years to Dewey McClellan and the mother of two children, Mark and Susan. Smitty joined the Women's Army Air Corps in 1941 and served as a Captain in England during World War II, where she met and married Dewey. Together, they lived at 28 addresses. Smitty generously gave her time and friendship. Her warm, friendly smile greeted people as a Red Cross Volunteer at Tinker Air Force Base for 38 years. Smitty wore many hats: Captain, wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, leader, organizer, volunteer, Christian, friend. Her kind heart and warm smile were her trademarks. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Smitty is survived by her son, Mark; daughter, Susan; grandchildren, Mark McClellan Jr., Kristin Haines, Jessie Adams, Will Smith, Kyle McClellan, and Kaycee McClellan; and great-grandchildren, Luke McClellan, Katherine McClellan, and Nolan Haines. A service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Saint Matthews Methodist Church, 300 N. Air Depot Blvd., Midwest City, followed by a committal at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia, at a later date.
