Bruce Tallon Obituary

On Sunday, August 16, 2009, Bruce Dean Tallon went home to be with his heavenly Father. Bruce was born on September 10, 1957 in Duncan, OK. He was raised by two wonderful Christian parents, Marion and Frankie Tallon. Bruce grew up in Del City and Newcastle. Bruce then played on a baseball scholarship at Oklahoma Christian University, where he met his future wife, Terry Jobe, and they were married 30 wonderful years this month. Bruce was the love of Terry's life, and she was the love of his life. Bruce was the proud father of Tyler Tallon, his first-born son, who is now living in Georgia with his precious wife, Brooke, whom Bruce considers his daughter. Bruce often took Tyler fishing and skiing at Lake Tenkiller. He coached Tyler in many little league baseball games and supported Tyler while playing basketball at Edmond Memorial High School. Bruce was also blessed with his second son, Zack. Bruce enjoyed taking Zack and his buddies to the lake and coached many of Zack's baseball teams. Bruce was so proud that Zack has taken an active role in the Village of Hope in Africa. The boys were Bruce's pride and joy. Bruce died a grateful man because of his relationship with God, family, and so many wonderful friends. Bruce treasured his sister, Kelly, her husband, Kelly, and their family. Bruce has many loved ones who are going to miss him so much. Among those are Terry's twin sister, Sherry, and her husband, Kris. Jerry and Laura Beth Jobe (Bruce's in-laws) couldn't have asked a more precious person to marry their daughter. Bruce loved his brother-in-law, Kelly Jobe, and all of his nieces and nephews and their families. Bruce was an elder at the Memorial Road Church of Christ, and his beloved elders were like brothers to him. Bruce was an active golfer who had so many special friends that he went with every Saturday morning. Bruce worked at Kim Ray and had a deep love for all of those he worked with. Bruce had a love and compassion for all of God's children. He always saw the good in people and loved them with his whole heart. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest donations be made to the Village of Hope in Africa, in care of Memorial Road Church of Christ. Services will be held 3:30 PM Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at Memorial Road Church of Christ, with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, Oklahoma.

Yesterday's service was a celebration of a life well lived and a day to remember a remarkable individual. He left everyone he came into contact with a little better than the way they were before. Terry, and his family and friends all feel a loss right now, but I think there are many of us who are looking forward to seeing him again one day.

While a member of Memorial Road Church of Christ, one of the first faces I saw on Sundays and Wednesday's was Bruce's. He always had a smile and kind words... What a blessing for the Tallon Boys to have such a wonderful father as a role model and for Terry to have such a loving husband... My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
In Him,
