BURRELL CARLSON Obituary
Dec 11, 1932 - June 19, 2014 EDMOND Burrell Adrian Carlson, 81, died at his home in Edmond, Oklahoma, on June 19, 2014. Burrell was born on December 11, 1932, to Adrian Boyd Carlson and Allene Graves Carlson in Oakville, Iowa. His parents have predeceased him. Burrell is survived by his wife, Lola; his daughters, Elizabeth Carlson, of Oklahoma City; and Mary Carlson, of Dallas, Texas; and son, Thomas Carlson (wife Debra), of Edmond. Also surviving are granddaughters, Nicole and Caitlin Carlson, of Edmond; granddaughter, Hailey Loncar, of Dallas; and grandson, Darren Carlson, of Lake Worth, Florida; as well as great-grandsons, Michael Carlson and Christian Carlson, of Lake Worth. Burrell is also survived by his only sibling, sister, Diane Gerst (husband Richard), of Springfield, Missouri. In addition, he has many surviving nieces, nephews and cousins. Burrell completed K-12th grade in Oakville's only school, serving as Senior Class President. He played on a great baseball team that competed for the Iowa State Championship. He went on to Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa, on an athletic scholarship, but was injured in a basketball game his first year. The result was surgery and loss of scholarship. He spent the next year at the University of Iowa before starting what would become a thirty-three year career with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Burrell married Lola Charbonneau, also from Oakville, on October 1, 1955. Goodyear transferred Burrell to Oklahoma City in 1965 for a two-year stint that turned into a permanent home. After retirement in 1988, Burrell and Lola enjoyed many wonderful years down on Lake Eufaula, where he gardened, fished and played lots and lots of golf. Many wonderful times were also enjoyed traveling in their RV and golfing in Florida. He was proud of his four "holes-in-one." Many days of these last few years have been spent with his Coffee Creek golf buddies. A come-and-go Visitation/ Reception will be Friday, June 27, 6-8 p.m. at Crawford Family Funeral Service, Edmond. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
