HeadingtonJune 14, 1922 - November 11, 2012 DALLAS, TX Catherine Meyer Headington died peacefully at her home on November 11, 2012. She was surrounded by her three children, Jeanette Kern, Greg Headington and Tim Headington.A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, November 15, at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd., Dallas, TX 75205.Catherine was born on June 14, 1922 in Bellingham, WA. She was the youngest of four children in the Meyer family. It was there that her Christian faith was nurtured. The basis of her life's journey was placing faith first. It was her ministry with Young Life that brought her to Dallas, where she would meet her husband, Clare Wesley Headington, in a Sunday School class. Catherine received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Western Washington University and a Master of Arts degree in English from Central State University in Oklahoma. She was an assistant professor of English on the Central State faculty for fifteen years.Catherine was an original staff member of Young Life Ministries and remained involved with Young Life throughout her life. She was an elder at First Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City and subsequently an active member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church.Her indelible spirit resides in her family and community. Throughout the years she brought joy playing the piano in the church and at home. She encouraged people, was involved in mission work and made many lifelong friends along the way. Catherine not only believed, but also lived faithfully every day, as evidenced by the overwhelming love that family, friends and acquaintances have for her. She possessed a natural and effortless elegance while maintaining a timeless sense of humor. She loved life in a way that was infectious. We will all miss her quick smile, her laughter and her love of life.Catherine is survived by her three children, Timothy, Gregory and Jeanette, and her husband Terry Kern, and three grandchildren, David, Chris and Julie Martin, who affectionately called her Cackey. She was preceded in death by Clare W. Headington and J. Edward Headington.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas, TX, the Headington Institute in Pasadena, CA or Labrador Rescue in Dallas, TX.
