IvesDec. 9, 1930 - Sept. 18, 2012 CHOCTAW Christine (Ashford) Ives, born 9 December 1930 in Antlers, OK to Sam and Ethel (Sexton) Ashford, died 18 September 2012 at age 81. Christine was preceded in death by her parents Sam and Ethel Ashford, husband Charles (41 years) of Antlers, beloved son Larry, and grandson Joshua, brothers Walter and Logan Ashford, and sister Lenora Bell. Christine was born, lived and educated in Antlers, Oklahoma until 1947 when she moved to OKC with her parents. She proudly graduated from Central High School OKC (Class of '49). After attending Draughon's Business School she was employed by the Veterans Administration and at Tinker AFB. She (and husband Charley) retired from federal civil service at 35 years. She worked as a clerk, secretary and computer operation in Tinker Data Services. Survivors include her daughter Linda (Ives) Bias of Choctaw, granddaughter Crista of Dallas, two great-grandsons Steven Picco and Robert Hudson of Duncan Oklahoma, sisters Myrtle Edmond (Antlers) and Sammie Moser (husband Wesley) of Choctaw, numerous nephews/nieces and friends.Christine never met a "stranger", her quirky smile and friendly demeanor, outgoing personality and wit drew people to her. She dearly loved to travel and was always ready to shop; enjoyed all forms of sewing/ quilting/needlework; genealogy research, and participated in all types of community service and volunteered at hospital auxiliary, election and housing authority. She was a friend to many people and loved to help whenever/however she could, driving to doctor appointments, church, grocery, etc. Declining health and distance necessitated her return to OKC and she lived with her daughter in Choctaw. However, her fervent desire was to return to Antlers and spend her remaining days among the peace and tranquility of Pushmataha County. Memorial services will be held 22 Sept. 2012 at 2 PM, at the Mills-Coffey Funeral Home, 715 East Main, Antlers, OK with burial at Antlers City Cemetery.
