Sept 15, 1922 - June 6, 2013 ANADARKO Dorothy Salamy, 90, of Anadarko, OK, surrounded by her loving family, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 6, 2013. Dorothy was born Sept. 15, 1922, in Drumright, OK to Eddie & Rosa (Elkouri) Shadid. She grew up and lived in Drumright until she met and married the love her life, George Salamy, on Aug. 26, 1956. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Anadarko, Sorosis Club of Anadarko, and lifetime member of the University of Oklahoma Parent Association. She also worked hand-in-hand with her husband in their family business, George's Department Store. Dorothy was a loving wife and mother, who knew her family's hopes, dreams, and desires, and she helped them reach their goals. She had a gentle and humble spirit that carried her through life, and she showed kindness and generosity to all. Throughout her illness, Dorothy carried herself gracefully and relied on her loving Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dr. Edward Shadid and Jack Shadid. Survivors include her faithful husband of 56 wonderful years, George, of the home; adoring daughter and best friend, Pamela Salamy, of Norman, OK; devoted son, Dr. Stephen Salamy, of Oklahoma City, OK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the care givers who have supported her. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Anadarko, OK. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at First Christian Church in Anadarko, with the Rev. Garry McDevitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Anadarko, OK. The family asks that, in lieu of sending flowers, donation be made to the , P.O.
