Nov 20, 1927 - Aug 14, 2013 WYNNEWOOD Frank James Gardner, of Wynnewood, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at the age of 85. He was born Nov. 20, 1927, in Ponca City, the youngest of W.M. Gardner and Lottie (Sommers) Gardner's 12 children. He married Phyllis Rae Nolen on Dec. 31, 1953. Their union produced two children, Carol and Frank James Gardner, Jr. Frank was a devoted horseman. He was a rancher, horse trainer, roper and quarter horse judge, and he worked with horses his entire life. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings. Frank is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of the home; daughter, Carol (Gardner) Jones and husband Dale, of Lindsay; son, Jim Gardner and wife Tonie, of Piedmont; grandchildren, Brandy (Jones) McDonnell and husband Patrick, of Del City; Desty (Jones) Davis and husband Glenn, of Lindsay; and James Ty Gardner, of Piedmont; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Gabriel and Brenna McDonnell and Ian and Alec Davis; and dear friends, Bill and Gayla Rose. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to cancer research.
