Sept. 22, 1921 - Nov. 18, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Frank Cuthbert Gilkes was born September 22, 1921 to John and Zemena Gilkes in Barbabos, B.W.I. He immigrated to the United States in 1930 at the age of 8. Frank chose to serve in the Army Air Force as a fighter pilot in WWII and although he was not born in the U.S. he was a patriot in every sense of the word. He departed this life November 18, 2013. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 48 years, Pat Gilkes, his two children - daughter Carolyn and her husband John Poer, and son Rob and his wife Regina, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Rosalie Gilkes and brother Hayden Gilkes. Frank will be remembered as a sweet and gentle spirit who quietly led his family with his nuggets of wisdom. He had a wonderful sense of humor and reminded those around him not to take life too seriously. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 22, at 11am at Southern Hills Church of God.
