July 17, 1931 - Jan 23, 2013 MIDWEST CITY Dr. N. Gene Perkins went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 23, 2013. He leaves behind his six children and 14 grandchildren: Jack and Karina Perkins, Ana, Greg, Kenna and Kael; Cy and Deanna Perkins, Lindsay and Brandon McDaniel, Lauren and Lacy Perkins; Bryce and Cathey Perkins, Bryce Gene, Blayze and Jenna Perkins and Brittany Perkins; Dow Perkins; Amy and Shad Wilkerson, Lyric and Josiah "Cy"; Rex and Emerald Perkins, Jessica and Joshua. Dr. Perkins was preceded in death by the love of his life, Dee. He was born July 17, 1931, in Hominy, OK to L.N. "Cy" and Hahn Elizabeth Perkins. He attended Stillwater High School, Oklahoma State University, San Diego State University and the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN, where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree. Dr. Perkins also served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a Deacon of First Baptist Church of Midwest City and served faithfully in Kiwanis Club and the Midwest City Quarterback Club. He was an avid golfer. He practiced optometry in Midwest City for over 50 years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and children. Dr. Perkins incorporated his photography skills into his daily practice. He made eye exams fun and interesting by sharing his slide shows from around the world with his patients. He loved traveling so much that he always kept a suitcase packed in case a last minute adventure came up. Alongside Dr. Perkins' many accomplishments, he felt his paramount duty was to introduce his children to Christ and to raise them in His Church. Dr. Perkins loved life and passed this joy onto those he was around. He will be deeply missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Midwest City, with interment to follow at Kolb Cemetery.
