June 8, 1926 - Feb 22, 2013 YUKON Helen Marie Chambers Young was born on June 8, 1926, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Dee O. and Minnie Chambers. Helen passed away peacefully in her home on February 22, 2013, after a short illness from cancer. In 1935, she and her family moved from Enid to Bethany, Oklahoma. She attended Bethany Grade School and graduated from Putnam City High School. Helen had a wonderful life. She so enjoyed her family and sharing fun times at the lake fishing, boating and water skiing. She was quite the fisherwoman and has proof of her big catches. She also water skied until she was 67 years of age. Helen retired from AT&T after 30 years performing secretarial duties. Helen wed Cecil Earl Knight, Jr. in April 1944. They had two daughters: Katherine Ann, born in 1945; and Susan Earlene, born in 1948. They lived on a farm, but she did not care for farm life. Eventually, the marriage ended in divorce. While working for Aero Commander, she met the love of her life, Wandel L. Young. They were married in September of 1957. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Wandel L. Young, whom she loved dearly for 43 years; and her youngest daughter, Susan Earline Knight Waddle. Helen is survived by her daughter, Katherine Ann Staton and husband Larry, of Doyline, LA. She also leaves behind three grandchildren: Kristie Kay Savage and husband Sean, of Tulsa; Michael Ashley Cook and wife Michelle, of Piedmont; and Kerri Lynn Cook, of Warr Acres; six great-grandchildren: Lauren, Bryan and Samantha Savage; Torey, Brandon and Brittnie Cook; five step-great- grandchildren, Will and Dylan Russell, Erin Spencer, Julie Chasteen and Erin Allum; great-great-grandchildren, Jude Turner, Kira Chasteen and Drake Allum; and three siblings: Alpha Swearingen, of Seminole; Doris Simpson and Jesse Chambers, of Bethany. Viewing will be Monday, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m., with the family present 6-8 p.m. at Mercer-Adams, Bethany, OK. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Mercer-Adams Chapel.
