Irene Reynolds Herrman, 86 of Hilton Head Island, SC died Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at Hilton Head Regional Medical Center. Her two sons, Gary Herrman of Hilton Head and Larry Herrman of Charleston, were at her bedside at the time of her death. Irene was born March 26, 1917 on a farm near Preston, KS the daughter of Fred B and Mattie I Reynolds. Irene was the second of the four Reynolds daughters. The eldest, Minnie Thornton, predeceased her while her surviving sisters Viola Skelton and Aveline Clark reside in Pratt, KS. Irene grew up and graduated High School in Pratt then completed beautician school in Wichita where she married Don Herrman in 1940. Don's career as Vice President of Charles Currey Co took them to Wichita, Oklahoma City and finally to retirement in Mesa, AZ where Irene moved full time after Don passed away in 1988. In 1999 she moved to Hilton Head to be near her sons in her final years and where she could keep in touch with her grandchildren Hunter Herrman, Mallory Herrman, Stephanie King, and Garrett Herrman and great grandchildren Arielle, Riley and Tyler Herrman. Memorial services will be at Larrison Mortuary in Pratt at 1:30pm on Jan 29 with the Rev Bill Stapleton of the Cunningham United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be the following day at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita, KS.
