July 13, 1923 - Sept 22, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Jack Curtis Pischel, born July 13, 1923, to Retha and Carl Pischel in Jefferson, Iowa, went to heaven on September 22, 2012. Jack was preceded in death by all of his siblings but one. He is survived by his wife, Betty; his sister, Marjory Musgrove; his daughter, Martha O'Hair and husband Harold; two sons, Jim and wife Robin, and Tim and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Jeff O'Hair, Tracy West, John O'Hair, Rodney Pischel, Jamie Wood, Amanda Crook, Kristina Travis; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Ashley, Cameron, Ryan, Malachi, Sam, Gabriel, Zachary, Jake, Andy, Daphne, Iris, Piper, Andee and Willow. Jack and Betty were married 65 years. Jack graduated from Olivet Nazarene College and Kansas City Nazarene Seminary. He received his Master's degree from Central State College. He pastored churches in Texas and Iowa and then went on to teach at Southern Nazarene University for 19 years. He retired and built a log home in southeast Texas. Jack served as District Adult Minister on the Houston District. Jack also served on the Bethany City Council. He published a book of his poetry and wrote many poems about nature and life situations. He also raised over 400 varieties of day lilies. Summers were spent traveling in a camper in every state of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. One summer was spent in Europe in a camper. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at Mercer-Adams. A service to celebrate his life will be Wednesday, September 26, 10 a.m. at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, Chapel in the Round.
