Aug 28, 1928 - Jan 12, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Joan Pauline (Stehno) Edwards passed away on January 12, 2013. Joan was born to Frank and Emma Stehno at the home place, located three and one-half miles west of Medford, OK, August 28, 1928. She attended District 56 school (Valley Center), graduating from Medford High School in 1947. Joan then attended Central State College, now known as University of Central Oklahoma, graduating with a degree in Business Education in 1951. She would teach business machines and typing for a year at Kingfisher High School in Kingfisher, OK. She then taught typing to servicemen at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, OK. Joan married her hometown sweetheart, James Eugene Edwards, on July 28, 1952, at the Y Chapel, located at Central State College. They bought their first home in 1956 and moved to Oklahoma City, where they raised their two sons. The family continued to work the family farms, fishing, camping, and enjoyed their life together for the last 60 years. Joan will be missed greatly by family and friends. Joan is survived by husband, Jim; son, John Alton and his wife Anne, of Oklahoma City; two grandsons, Christopher Ryan and Sean Thomas Edwards, of Moore, OK; granddaughter, Jenifer Emma Edwards, of Ohio; nieces: Jeanne Stehno, of Great Falls, MT; and Ashley Ann Edstrom, of Grand Junction, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Emma Stehno; son, Jerald Wayne Edwards; brother, John Stehno; two sisters, Mary Ann and Helen Stehno. Interment will be at Pond Creek Cemetery in Pond Creek, OK.
