John Larason Obituary

John Todd Larason died January 6, 2010, in Seattle at age 37, losing his battle with depression and obesity. Todd was born in Oklahoma City, attended Westminster School, Bishop McGuinness High School and Oklahoma City University. He was a Unix computer programmer for Data Times in Oklahoma City, RuleSpace in Portland, OR, and Amazon.com in Seattle. A gathering for his Seattle and Portland friends was held in Seattle where great stories were told about his wicked sense of humor and his amazing recall of people, places and events in pop cultural history. His former manager at Amazon said that in a place full of brilliant minds, Todd was "scary-smart" and a great guy to work with. He was known for his award winning work in content filter programs and was awarded several patents. But at times Todd considered his brilliant mind more of a curse; he longed to be ''normal''. He is survived by his parents, Tim and Linda Larason, his sister and her husband, Amber and James Niblett. He was ''Uncle Todd'' to his nieces, Katie and Maddie Niblett, whom he adored. A gathering for Oklahoma City friends will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, January 30, First Unitarian Church, 600 NW 13th St. Memorials may be made to: Westminster School Scholarship Fund, 600 NW 44th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73118 or the Electronic Frontier Foundation at http://www.eff.org/ (click on Donate, Gift & Tribute). http//www.eff.org/
