September 24, 1927 - May 1, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Jo June Curtis Towery was born on September 24, 1927, to Lois and Joe Curtis, two early day Oklahoma pioneers, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013. She is survived by her children, Curtis K. Towery and T. Scott Towery and wife, Tonya of Oklahoma City; a sister, Shirley C. Lochridge and niece, Lisa C. Lochridge of Dallas, Texas; nephew, Robert D. Lochridge, III and wife, Alice and their family of Houston, Texas. Her husband of 63 years, Clyde D. Towery, passed away in 2012. She was the Valedictorian of her high school class and attended Scripps College in Claremont, California before transferring to the University of Oklahoma where she graduated with a degree in journalism. There she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She served on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, was a member of the Oklahoma Art League, the Twentieth Century Club, past president of the Pen & Quill Book Club, active member of the Delta Delta Delta Alumni Association, past member of the Mayfair and Joie De Vie Dance Clubs, a lifelong member of the University of Oklahoma Alumni Association and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. She enjoyed traveling extensively with her family and had a great love of painting and spending time with her friends including the "No Bridge" Bridge Club. Her faith, family and friends were the cornerstone of her life and she will be greatly missed by many. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, at Westminster Presbyterian Church. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
