Feb 24, 1937 - Dec 21, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Julie Norfleet Smith passed away peacefully at home in Oklahoma City, OK on December 21, 2012. She was 75. Julie was born on February 24, 1937, in Kansas City, MO to Virgil and Katrinka Norfleet. She grew up in Huntington, IN, where she graduated from high school in 1954. She earned a nursing degree at the Parkview Methodist School of Nursing in Fort Wayne, IN in 1957 and a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Oklahoma in 1969. Julie had a passion for cooking, especially French, and was fond of saying that margarine was a "sin" and that one could "never undercook a Prime Rib." She enjoyed mystery novels; Santa Fe, NM; animals; Simon & Garfunkel; and standing up for civil rights. Strong willed and confident, she was proud to be a nurse. She is survived by a daughter, Siobhan Smith, of Park City, UT; and a son, Kevin Smith, of Oklahoma City, OK. An informal celebration of Julie's life will be held at La Baguette on May Ave. on Saturday, December 29 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Donations to honor her may be made to Friends With Four Paws at friendswithforpaws.org
