Nov 29, 1935 - July 27, 2013 MIDWEST CITY LeRoy Smith, age 77, passed away on July 27, 2013. He was born on Nov. 29, 1935, in Tulsa, OK to Edgar and Beulah Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruby and Deloris (both died in early childhood); and brother, Howard, of Emery, TX. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ursula, of the home; three daughters: Mary Ann Navarrette, of OKC; Rosalie Smith, of Moore; and Karen Kay Smith, of OKC; two grandsons, John P. Navarrette and Brian J. Hill; sister, Sybil Harper, of Gentry, AR; brothers: Ed and wife Maxine, of Tulsa; Virgil Lee, of Broken Arrow; and Billy Ray, of Collinsville; and many nieces, nephews and other family members. LeRoy attended Central High School in Tulsa before enlisting in the USMC in 1953. He served in Korea for 13 months and returned to the states with the 1st Division, 5th Marine Reg. when the peace treaty was signed. Shortly after his discharge from the Marines, he joined the Air Force and went to Germany, where he later met Ursula, and they were married in Basel, Switzerland. Mary Ann was born in Bad Kreuznach, Germany; Rosalie was born in Siloam Springs, AR; and Karen Kay was born in Taipei, Taiwan, Rep. of China. LeRoy served in several countries overseas and remained in the Air Force until retirement while serving as NCOIC Wing Communications, 1st Special Operations Wing, Hurlburt Field, FL. Leroy was a member of several veterans organizations, which included The American Legion Post 170, 40&8 Vorture 1540, VFW Post 9969, AF Sergeants Association and AmVets. He held several positions at post, state and one at national level during his tenure with veteran's organizations. He served as VAVS, donating over 750 volunteer hours at the OKC VA Medical Center. LeRoy loved gardening and raising a patio room full of flowers. Everyone says he had a green thumb like his mother. Visitation and viewing will be 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31 and Thursday, Aug. 1.
