Louann Ellis Obituary

Louann Harman Ellis was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma on June 30, 1934 and passed away on October 23, 2007. Louann was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore H. Harman and Pearl M. Thompson Harman; her husband, Ben Howard Ellis; her half-brother, Gayle Hotson; and her sister, Bonnie Lee Harman Thompson Frederick. Louann is survived by her children, Sherri Lou Ellis, Linda Dawn Ellis, and Brett Harman Ellis; Brett's wife, Sandra Majors Ellis; step-granddaughter, Terina Snyder and husband Chris Snyder; step-great-grandchildren, Makaylah Snyder and Blaze Christopher Snyder; step-granddaughter, Tamara Shepherd and husband Danny Shepherd; and step-great-granddaughter, Brooke Faith Shepherd; grandson, Benjamin Cody Ray Ellis; nieces, Gay Lee Hotson Sanderson and Dee Ann Thompson; and a nephew, Dr. George H. Thompson and his wife Janice and their families. Louann spent most of her life in Logan County, living for short periods in Anchorage, Alaska; Stillwater, Tulsa, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Central Oklahoma with a degree in Business Administration. She was awarded the Bast Award as the most outstanding student in the School of Business. Ben and Louann traveled to rodeos where Ben Rode bulls, barebacks, and did steer wrestling. Later, they continued taking the children to rodeos. Both girls were successful barrel racers. They also took Brett to wrestling matches where he became an outstanding competitor. Louann traveled extensively during the 70s and 80s. She went to all the Western European countries: England, Ireland, Greece, Egypt, and on an archeological dig in Israel. She purchased her first Irish Wolfhound in 1976 and became very active in showing and breeding, finishing over 50 champions from her Trampas Kennel. Louann was a lover of all animals and implores those she leaves behind to respect all living beings. We, as the dominant and most cruel species are charged with their well-being. Services will be 2:00 pm on Friday, October 26, 2007, at Guardian Funeral Home North Chapel. Private family interment at Harmony Cemetery.
