Obituary Condolences

August 12, 1928 - November 26, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Marilyn Sue Waller Rothe was born August 12, 1928 in Wichita, Kansas to Sue and DeWitt Waller. She grew up in Enid, Oklahoma where she graduated from Enid High School in 1946. She attended GulfPark College in Gulfport, MS before returning to the University of Oklahoma where she completed her Bachelor's degree in Political Science in 1950. Marilyn was a loyal member of Kappa Alpha Theta, elected to Phi Beta Kappa and active on many boards while at OU. Upon graduation, she served as Executive Director of the Enid Council of Camp Fire Girls until her marriage to Robert Sandford Rothe in 1952. Marilyn and Robert had four children - Barbara, Sandford, Robert and Jane. Robert managed soft drink bottling plants in Texas, Kansas and Colorado before they returned to Oklahoma City in 1964. Marilyn completed her Master's degree at Oklahoma City University in 1972 while teaching Civics and Oklahoma History in the Putnam City Schools. Besides her family and supportive friends, Marilyn was most proud of three honors she received through the years---Teacher of the Year at Western Oaks Junior High, Kappa Alpha Theta of the Year by the Oklahoma City Alumnae Chapter and Phi Beta Kappa of the Year by the Oklahoma City Association of PBK for which she served as archivist for 30 years. She was an active member of Village United Methodist Church where she worked with United Methodist Women and Village Connections. Marilyn was a 21 year Docent at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, a member of Chapter EH of P.E.O., a member of two Mah Jongg groups, Tuesday Book Club and Northwest Antique Club. One of her greatest passions was her love of antique silver. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Robert, in 1999. She is survived by her four children Barbara Rothe of Atlanta, GA, Sandy Rothe and his wife Leslie of Denver, CO, Rob Rothe of Dallas, TX, and Jane Wegner and her husband John of Tampa, FL; her sister Barbara Kudravetz and her husband George of Charlottesville, VA; three grandchildren Robert Rothe and his wife Angela of Denver, CO, Barrett Rothe and his wife Annie of Ft. Collins, CO, and Jill Wegner of Tampa, FL; two nephews, their wives and daughters David, Mackie and Julia Kudravetz of Charlottesville, VA, and Doug, Janet and Tyler Kudravetz of Arlington, VA. Also remaining are her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sue and Jack Wilson of Melbourne, FL; and numerous Rothe nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, November 30, 2012, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home. Family will receive friends between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid, OK. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Village United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. Memorials may be made to: Village United Methodist Church, 2521 W.
