Aug. 7, 1981- April 8, 2013 BETHANY Our beloved Michael entered into the arms of Jesus on April 8, 2013. He was born on August 7, 1981 in Bethany, OK where he was a much-loved son, grandson, brother, nephew and friend. Michael committed his life to Christ in the 5th grade and was called to the ministry in the 8th grade. He graduated from Putnam City West High School in 1999 and was currently completing his Bachelor's degree at OU. He became a licensed minister in 1999 and in his career, worked as a Hospice Chaplain and Police Chaplain. His love of planes and the wonder of flying prompted him to obtain a job as a flight attendant with Northwest Airlines, and later a job with Southwest Airlines. Michael was blessed with the gift of singing and used his beautiful voice to minister to countless people over the course of his life. His love for music also included playing the piano. He had a special love for Senior Adults, and focused his ministry in this area. Michael's spreading of the Gospel of Christ went beyond America, extending to such countries as Malawi, Africa and Jamaica. Many people came to know Christ as a result of Michael's ministry in these countries. He loved his church family and friends at AA. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Don and Jan Myers and Jackie Dorris. He is survived by parents Mike and Tanya Dorris of Bethany, brother Nick Dorris and wife Janislynn of Yukon, grandfather Robert Dorris of Bethany and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A service in celebration of his life will be held at Council Road Baptist Church on Saturday, April 13th, at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Celebrate Recovery at Council Road Baptist Church.
