Oct 28, 1935 - Oct 3, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Roger Allen Benedict Sr. died on October 3, 2013, after a valiant fight with pulmonary fibrosis. Roger had attended John Marshall High School and always referred to himself as a Britton boy, graduated from Oklahoma State University, joined the army and was chosen to be in the Presidential Honor Guard in Washington, DC. When he returned to Oklahoma City, he was in the 45th Infantry Division of the National Guard. Preceded in death by his mother, Sue; his father, Henry Benedict; and sister, Jerie Smith, he is survived by his brother, Henry Benedict. Roger was an adoring father, grandfather, and loving husband, married for 54 years to Lynn Benedict. He was an artist in his own right, a brick mason and contractor. Brick by brick, Roger worked hard for his large family that he always wanted, which included daughter, Barbara and husband Mark Dubberstein and grandchildren, Hart, Jake, Gavin, and Roslyn; daughter, Theresa Benedict and husband Philip Sanders; son, Roger and wife Stacy Benedict and grandchildren, Brittan, Hannah, Brady, and Hallie; son, Joe Benedict; and son, Thomas Verlon Benedict, who was born on his dad's birthday and deceased in car accident at 17 years old. He was an avid golfer at Lake Hefner Golf Course until he could not physically play anymore. Roger's life was touched with beautiful relatives and compassionate, caring, helpful neighbors and friends. At Roger's request, there will be no viewing or services. Because of the tender, loving constant care, in lieu of flowers, all donations may be sent to Physician's Choice Hospice, 1000 NW 139th St Pkwy, Edmond, OK 73034.
