Dec 7, 1925 - Oct 11, 2012 BETHANY Ruth Hamm, born Dec. 7, 1925, departed this life on Oct. 11, 2012, surrounded by those she loved. In 1941, while walking across the campus of God's Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio, Ruth met the love of her life, Clarence. Both were 16 years old. In December of 1945, she traveled for four days by train to meet Clarence in Seattle while he was on a brief leave from the Navy. Upon her arrival, Clarence officially proposed and they married on Christmas Eve. After moving to Oklahoma in 1969, Ruth worked for C.R. Anthony until 1987, at which time she assumed the special role of a loving grandmother. Ruth was a very sweet and soft-spoken lady, whose faith in God was very strong. Those who knew her found a caring, compassionate and generous friend who encouraged, loved and accepted them unconditionally. She especially loved spending time with her family and was devoted to members of her church family. Those who were loved by her were told very frequently how "precious" they were and how much she loved and appreciated them. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Ira Stouder; siblings, Joe, Paul, Claude, Merle, Elsie, and Margaret; and by her grandson, Caleb Nathanael Hamm. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Clarence E. Hamm; daughters, Bonnie Jones Trowbridge, Brenda Lovell and husband Earl, and Sheryl McLain and husband Kyle; and son, David Hamm and wife Lynnette. She is also survived by her "adopted children," Rev. William and Shirley Sillings and their three daughters. Surviving grandchildren include Joshua Jones, Amanda Rose, Nicholas Lovell, Melissa Jones, Michael Ray, Seth Hamm, Sean McLain; and two great-grandchildren. Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, Oklahoma, with the family present 5-7 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at New Hope Worship Center, 3513 North Geraldine Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
