McKinneyNov. 10, 1923 - Oct. 27, 2013 YUKON Thomas "Tom" A. McKinney, 89, died peacefully at home after a brief illness, on Oct. 27, 2013. Tom was born in Grannis, AR to Albert A. and Florence (Allen) McKinney. The McKinney family were longtime residents of Yukon having moved to Yukon when he was 13 years old. Tom and his wife, Helen, celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary in April. He was a man of great integrity; and a well-respected and dedicated homebuilder all his life. Tom, along with his father and brothers, developed and built McKinney Heights. A World War II Veteran, he served in the U.S. Army. Tom attended Yukon High School. He loved hunting and fishing. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; four younger brothers, James "Jim" Earl, John "Frank", Glen L., and Robert "Bob" McKinney; granddaughter, Jamie M. Bowie; and sons-in-law, O.L. "Pete" Peters and Joseph "Joe" Phipps. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Sokoloski); and five children, Thomas "Paul", Ronald "Ron" and his wife Velma, Dianna Peters, Michael "Mike" and his wife Gaye, and Cindy Phipps; sisters-in-law, Kathy McKinney, Zella Faye McKinney; and foster sister, Lorene Shepard. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Autumn Bridge Hospice for their loving care. A celebration of Tom's life will be at 2:00 p.m., Thur., Oct. 31, 2013, in the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at Yukon Cemetery.
