She was the beloved wife of Donald Lee Hilton and loving mother to Shelley and Derek. June was a graduate of Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City, remaining close to lifelong school friends and active in reunion gatherings. During the 1940s and 1950s, June worked for KOMA radio in Oklahoma City, beginning her professional singing career recording advertising jingles and performing popular music, both on a live daytime radio show and with Oklahoma City area dance bands. The family also lived in Tulsa, New Orleans and Shreveport for Don's job, and after moving to Arlington, June became both a residential real estate agent and a commercial property manager. She was a member and served as president of Arlington's Encore Club, and she supported many charities assisting women, children and the arts.
