July 22, 1922 - June 27, 2014 OKLAHOMA CITY Mary "Bea" Poynter, 91, was born on July 22, 1922, in Waurika, OK to George and Stella Lang. Bea graduated from Helena H.S. and later completed business school. She worked as a legal secretary and later, as a lease records supervisor in the oil and gas industry until retirement. In 1961, she married Kenneth Poynter, and they enjoyed 28 years together. Mary attended the First Freewill Baptist Church, where she loved coaching softball, teaching Sunday school, playing piano; and, in her extra time, enjoyed fishing, bowling, and spending cherished moments with family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two children and four siblings. Bea is survived by one son, William Corday & wife Sandy; three daughters, Dana Counts & husband Paul, Kelly Davis & husband David Day, and Catherine Pickelsimer; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one niece, Marsha Houck. Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Vondel Smith Mortuary South, 6934 S. Western, with interment following at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
