Jimmy Wesley Carter, better known as "Carter," of Okarche, OK, went home to be with the Lord on January 3, 2010 at age 70. He was born August 15, 1939 at home in Lovell, Oklahoma, to Marguritte and Wesley Carter. After a courageous 3-year battle with cancer, he passed peacefully at home. Carter graduated from Tonkawa High School in 1957 and married Judith Brining in 1960 in Cherokee, OK. Shortly thereafter in 1964, he graduated from Phillips University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Carter then found his niche as a salesman in the late 60's and went on to build a successful career in equipped vehicle sales all over the world. Carter and Judy raised their two children: Mark, 48; and Lisha, 44, both who actively work in the family businesses. Carter was a devoted member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He enjoyed working, working and working. When he wasn't working, he loved to spend time with his family and friends, fish, hunt, play cards and travel. He is survived by wife of almost 50 years, Judy; brother, Robert (Carter); son, Mark (Carter); daughter, Lisha (Lowell-Oshman) and husband Kevin (Oshman); four grandchildren: Natasha (Reherman), Taren (Robinson), Sarah (Lowell-Oshman), Bennett (Lowell-Oshman); and four great-grandchildren: Emma, Jackson, Ella and Carter. An evening wake service will be held at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. All services will be under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home, 124 East Broadway, Kingfisher, OK 73750. To continue Carter's gratitude and love of giving, his family requests contributions, in lieu of flowers, be made to OU Medical Center Pancreatic Research Foundation, c/o Dr. Russell Postier, through First Capital Bank, 601 S. Main Street, Kingfisher, OK 73750, (405) 375-3300.
