Cherrie Anthony Obituary
Cherrie Margharite Allen Anthony left this world to be with the Holy Father, March 21, 2011 after a long battle with myasthenia gravis. Cherrie was born on October 20, 1919 in Oilton, Oklahoma. Cherrie lived in Oilton, Jennings and finally Cushing where she graduated high school in 1937. Cherrie attended St. Anthony's School of Nursing in Oklahoma City where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1941. After nurses' training, she married the love of her life James B. "Jim" Anthony, Jr. They were married February 15, 1942 and lived in Oklahoma City. She eventually went to work at St. Anthony's Hospital in the OB-GYN Department where she spent the majority of her nursing career. Cherrie was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James B. "Jim" Anthony, Jr., her parents, Robert B. and Florence (Treese) Allen and brothers, Robert B. Allen, Jr. and Rev. Richard C. Allen. Cherrie is survived by son, James A. Anthony and his wife Nancy of Forney, Texas and son, Samuel E. Anthony and his wife Virginia of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. She is also survived by four grandsons, Jay Anthony, Gary Anthony, Scott Anthony and Patrick Anthony, one great granddaughter, Molly Anthony, one nephew, Rev. David Allen, two nieces, Debbie Watson and Treese Allen and sister-in-law, Marge Allen as well as a host of friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2011, from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2011, at St. John's Episcopal Church with burial following at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on Cherrie's name to: St. John's Episcopal Church, 5401 N. Brookline Ave., OKC, OK 73112.
