March 4, 1948 - January 21, 2012 OKLAHOMA/THAILAND After a life that extended across much of the world, longtime Oklahoma and Thailand resident Donald Ervin Pruitt died January 21, 2012. He was 63. Those years were filled with experiences that stemmed from his service in the United States Air Force following his 1966 graduation from John Marshall High School. He served two tours in Viet Nam and while stationed in Thailand, met a young lady named Aroonrak, who was to be his wife for 42 years.After his Air Force service he and Aroonrak moved to Oklahoma and Donald was employed by Hewlett Packard until his retirement in 2005. Since then they divided their time between residing in Oklahoma City and Aroonrak's hometown of Nakhon Phanom, Thailand. Their final Oklahoma City visit ended last November when Donald chose to end his battle with Pancreatic cancer in the beauty of his Thailand home.He was born March 4, 1948 to Bettye and Ervin Pruitt in Stillwater. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Ervin Pruitt and a special uncle, Lloyd Pruitt. Donald is survived by his wife, Aroonrak, his mother, Bettye Ferguson of Oklahoma City and his father's widow, Linda Pruitt, Guthrie. Also surviving are his sister, Diana and her husband Steve Fleske, Oklahoma City. Also, by his half-sister and husband, Michaelann and John Smink, San Antonio, and children, Austin and Cody; his niece and her husband, Emily and Nick Kalina, Frisco, TX, and their children, Grace and Sadie; his nephew and wife, Eric and Amy Fleske, Norman, and their children, Lily and Max; several cousins and Aroonrak's family in Thailand.Aroonrak will return to Oklahoma City for a memorial service, which will be scheduled later.
