February 28, 1929 - July 31, 2012 NORMAN Memorial services for Robert R. "Bob" Sullivan, MD, Ret., age 83, longtime Norman Physician of Dermatology, will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Bethel Baptist Church, 1717 West Lindsey Street in Norman. Dr. Sullivan was born February 28, 1929 in Colony, Oklahoma the son of Dr. C.B. And Esther Grace (Bayles) Sullivan. He passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday afternoon, July 31, 2012. Dr. Sullivan graduated from Carnegie High School in 1947, later completing his Undergraduate Studies at Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. He later enrolled at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine, graduating in 1955. Dr. Sullivan served his medical internship at the Denver General Hospital in Denver, Colorado and his Post-Graduate School Residency at the School of Dermatology at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Miss Patricia Ann Stenholm on August 4, 1956 in Rockford, Illinois. Dr. Sullivan served in The United States Army, earning the rank of Captain, serving in the United States Medical Corps. He was discharged on November 17, 1958. Dr. Sullivan, joined his father, Dr. C.B. Sullivan, in Family Practice Medicine, serving four years in Carnegie, Oklahoma. Dr. Sullivan and his family moved to Norman, Oklahoma in 1965, where he practiced Dermatology Medicine, retiring in 1996. During his years of private practice, he enjoyed sharing his love of medicine and teaching by serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in Oklahoma City. During his tenure there, he was voted "Favorite Professor" on several occasions by his students. Dr. Sullivan loved the Lord Jesus and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Norman. He held an Extra Class Amateur Radio license with the call sign, KD5JPL and was a member of the South Canadian Amateur Radio Society. He loved his home state of Oklahoma and most of all he loved and enjoyed his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dr. Bennett Sullivan; and one sister, Mary Ellen Page. Survivors include wife of 56 years, Pat of the home; three sons, Robert R. Sullivan, Jr. and his wife, Geri Anne of Dorrington, California, Brent J Sullivan and his wife, Judy of Chandler, Arizona, and Daniel Scott Sullivan of Camano Island, Washington; one daughter, Martha Ann Ambler and her husband, Scott of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; one sister, Pat Sue King and her husband, Leon of Hydro, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Jonathan, Christopher, Kathryn, Kelsey, Aaron, Jana, Alyssa, Cara, April, and Caleb; and one great granddaughter, Alexis. A private burial was held Friday morning at the Poage Cemetery in Hydro, Oklahoma.
