May 18, 1929 - Nov. 4, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Lived on his family farm in Plattville, NE till the age of 12, moved to Lincoln, NE. After high school graduation he walk on and started for Hastings College. Won many collegiate all American awards. 1993 inducted in the Hastings Athletic Hall of Fame, 2005 inducted into Nebraska State Football Hall of Fame. Married Caroline Houtved Emel 1950, was drafted spent 2 years in the Air Force. 1953 attended University of Iowa, received a Master's in Business. After an internship in Wichita, 1956 moved to OKC worked at Oklahoma City Clinic, an administrator 16 years. Worked at Guarantee Enterprises, hospital laundry service, and spent half of each year as president of CHS Textile in Knoxville, TN. He retired in 2005. Loved bird hunting, enjoyed hosting his hunting friends and guest. Preceded in death by his wife, Maxine of 38 years, and step-daughter, Dana Lucas. Survived by his children, Jeff Emel, M.D. and wife Karen, Scott Emel and wife Terrie, Susan Emel Fleener and husband Bob and Brad Emel and wife Kim; step- children, Vic Lucas, Dan Potts, M.D. and wife Jan, Jeanne Martin and husband Jeff; 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
