Aug 13, 1923 - June 28, 2013 YUKON James Chambers, age 89, of Tuttle, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013, in Mustang. He was born Aug. 13, 1923, in Tonkawa, OK and has been living in the OKC area for the last 50-plus years. James had served in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a bomber belly turret gunner, participating in the Normandy, Rhineland and Northern France campaigns. In OKC, he had worked for Western Electric for over 24 years, retiring as a mechanical engineer. James was an avid golfer, having shot a 72 at age 72, and built and flew ultra-light aircraft. Survivors include his wife, Billie Lee Chambers, of Norman; son, James Ray Chambers and wife Leslie, of Roanoke, VA; daughter, Robin Potts and husband Chuck, of Yukon; granddaughter, Crystal Latreille and husband Brian; and two step-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 10 a.m. in the Smith & Turner Chapel in Yukon. Services are under the direction of Smith & Turner Mortuary, Yukon.
